Scottsdale, AZ – Friday, January 13, 2012: At its 2012 Annual Meeting held Janaury 12, 2012, the Red Means Stop Traffic Safety Alliance, Board of Directors elected Maria Wojtczak, President; Joanna Peters, Vice President; Barbara Hoffman, Secretary and Laura Sobczak, Treasurer. Frank Hinds remains as Executive Director.
The Board of Directors approved the pursuit of an aggressive program for this year’s Red Light Running Awareness Month – in March, to include public service announcements on various local radio stations; a press conference at the Arizona State Capitol that includes the Governor, State and local elected officials and law enforcement, as well as other events and activities to be announced. Additionally, the board approved a new Victims Outreach program involving area Trauma Centers and local law enforcement.
Red Means Stop begins 2012 with a goal to be more proactive in its approach to traffic safety education as well as a stepped up effort to change the culture that affects driving behavior. It can no longer be acceptable for drivers to run red lights, injuring and killing others, simply because they are distrtacted or in a hurry. Too many innocent people are being incapacitated or killed each year by irresponsible driving behavior – and it must stop.
